Who would you call when you feel distressed?
Allah…
When you need to strengthen your creed and faith, then you must read the Quran, as Allah said in His Holy Book, Surah An-Naml, Ayay 93, ”Is not He Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations. Is there any ilah (god) with Allah? Little is that you remember” (أَمَّن يُجِيبُ ٱلۡمُضۡطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكۡشِفُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجۡعَلُكُمۡ خُلَفَآءَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَءِلَٰهٞ مَّعَ ٱللَّهِۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ). Only Allah Almighty can save the hopeless and distressed, as He is Al-Jabbar.
Al-Jabbar
(The All Compelling)
The Irresistible, The Restorer, The Repairer
Allah is The One for Whom nothing happens in His dominion except what He willed. The Name ”Al-Jabbar”, has several accepted meanings, such as the Dominant and the Compeller. He is the One Who compels the tyrants and overwhelms them by His Power and Might. No matter how might they are, they are subject to the power of Allah, and their powers are in His hand. The other meaning goes to restoration, He restores what was broken, heartbroken people, lost lives, and even destroyed subjects. He heals your wounds and pains, and fixes corrupted souls. It all goes with His Divine Will, and He is never forced. In our daily duas, we ask Allah to forgive us, have mercy on us, guide us, support us, protect us, provide for us, and elevate us. We repeat this Dua and our minds intend the reflections of the Name of Allah, Al-Jabar.
In addition, The Name ”Al-Jabar’, is a call to everyone to not be a tyrant and oppressor. As Allah controls everything, whatever His servant’s desires are, it will never go against His Will and Power. Corrupters and tyrants may think that they control the death and lives of beings, but their deviant souls deceive them, making them believe that they control this world. But the reality is that Allah is leading them to their doomed destiny and final. That is why we need to strengthen our faith in Allah as we witness atrocities, brutality, and genocides that occur in this world, we must remind ourselves that this does not go beyond Allah’s Will and Dominance. If even they lived for hundreds of years, they would die, and soon or later, their judgments comes.
Al-Mutakabbir
(The Dominant One)
The Tremendous, The Great, The Proud
The One Who is clear of the attributes of the creatures and of resembling them. He is exalted far above all creation. He is tremendous and manifests this greatness in all things and in many ways. Allah describes Himself and says, ”There is nothing like unto Him”, Surah Ash-Shurah:11. The word ”Al-Mutakabar” incorporates the meanings of the perfection of one’s self and existence. He is above everything, He is above all harm. He is the One Who Alone has all greatness and pride. He possesses Greatness that no human can challenge or compete Him. He is too Great to submit to others; rather, submission is due to Him, and only to Him. And when we need to lean on, we lean on Allah, the One Who possesses powers and authorities. He is Allah. You feel secure and peace when you worship Allah, a God who has all the attributes of Greatness and Majesty that no one can defeat or even come closer to. May Allah enlighten our hearts with the lights of His names and Attributes.
